ePals Asks Students to Share Thoughts on Key Issues with Future President

Company announces Your Presidential Minute contest hosted on 2008 Election Central website

HERNDON, VA. (November 4, 2008) — ePals, Inc. announces the launch of Your Presidential Minute, a contest for students hosted on the company's U.S. presidential election-focused website, 2008 Election Central. Understanding that the winner of today's presidential election will make key decisions that will greatly affect their generation, ePals encourages students to speak to their future president concisely and creatively about issues that matter to them.

Using knowledge gained through Election Central, the contest encourages students to express their voice and views for the president-elect and his administration in the next four years. Students can discuss their ideas with family, friends and teachers, as well as their global peers in Election Central's student forums. Contest submissions must be in the form of a one-minute audio recording, one-minute video, 200-word written submission, or a 10-slide PowerPoint presentation. All submissions should directly address the president-elect. Students are encouraged to think globally and to be creative, such as writing a song, poem or speech to emphasize their points. ePals will compile the best responses online and share them with president-elect, his transition team and members of the ePals Global Community™.

"Our students are looking forward to sharing their thoughts regarding the upcoming election results with the new president," said Tanya Spillane, Principal of Middle School North in Cabot, Ark. "Election Central and the Your Presidential Minute contest will allow our students to participate in a global discussion regarding politics and to feel like they have a voice in the global community. We are very excited about this opportunity."

All entries must be submitted by Jan. 10, 2009. Entries will be reviewed and winners will be posted on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 2009. Videos, audio files and other media can be uploaded to Election Central at http://community.epals.com/groups/elections/media/default.aspx. Written entries should be submitted to electioncentral@epals.com.

"More than any other election of our generation, the 2008 election has empowered and involved America's youth. We want to continue that theme, by giving students a place to discuss, debate, and ultimately, present their views," said Edmund Fish, President and CEO of ePals, Inc. "The next U.S. president will make decisions every day that will affect students here in America and around the world. We want students to understand their power and express their ideas about issues that are important to them. We want students to know that they each have a voice and it should be heard."

Sponsored by Disney through its education-focused brand, Schoolhouse Rock, ePals 2008 Election Central is an issue-oriented group that brings together a series of activities, projects and resources to create learning moments for students around a topic of global importance—the U.S. presidential election.
